First quarter square, Sun in libra, moon in capricorn, have all the energy to properly allocate sources of love. As the solar principle radiates the need and desire for harmony in all our relations, the lunar principle manages the challenging emotional responses that seeking harmony can ignite. It is a good and noble thing to crave balance and feelings of equity in love as much as it is to speak as the diplomat that can inhabit the soul of Capricorn. Love much, love greatly, and when the emotions come, for they must, let them come freely and let them go freely, send them where they belong, let them know theyre valued, but keep them under the management this resourceful principle.
There is much to ponder, much to refine, about this sacred thing called love and it’s eternal partner sex. They appear to be so intimately entwined in this chart as the sacred (Jupiter) is binding together love (Venus) and sex (Mars) in the most thoughtful and considerate Virgo. They’re in the 8th house of the chart for the 1st quarter moon set in San Francisco, which adds to the drama and taboo, making a powerful statement about the ways in which this can transform and overcome the original ego formed through the first 6 houses.
Of course Mercury (dispositor of all of the above) is in Libra as well so it just comes full circle back to managing the emotional responses that this energy stirs. It’s in the 9th house here so it’s seeking a higher truth than is readily or easily conveyed. Higher truths are always harder to say and grasp, part of the reason outlaws are so admired, however, the effort to articulate them can pose rewards such as a wo-man can ever know. these are the things that you can only see with your eyes closed and can only grasp when you let go.
Meanwhile, Saturn is in Sagittarius, strolls through the cathedral looking for pamphlets that the radical hippies, from the commune down the street, always leave behind in hopes of adding a congregant or two to there epiphanous stew. He brings them to the altar of St Francis to burn as an offering of devotion to doctrinal principles. Instead, after pausing and staring into the candlelight, he laughs, tears off his robe, and dances down the street to the commune.
When I was a kid I went to a lot of funerals. It’s no big deal really, that’s just the way things were. I grew up in a big, Irish, Catholic family, we had lots of older relatives, and I was one of the last of my generation to come around, so by the time I was old enough to be aware of anything, I was standing in front of coffins, watching palls be carried up the church center to the altar, and singing “Harrigan” at graveside. Through this I came to understand cemeteries and churches as special places, sacred places where the dead could be mourned and the survivors comforted. I noticed that the church and cemetery were places where all manner of special occasions occurred and care was given to their upkeep. This idea was projected out to sanctify other spaces as sacred: the backyard, the woods down the street, Fenway Park, the pub..these were places where there was either regular, considerate time spent at sincere task or special pilgrimages made. The astrology of the moment made me think an awful lot about sacred spaces, the need to find and cultivate them, and ways that we can universalize the idea towards a better world.
There's really 2 big occasions occurring in the sky Friday morning, the new moon and the sun's ingress into Aries. I suppose it's three if you count the eclipse that this new moon performs.
The New Moon early Friday morning, in the latest degree of Pisces, and just before the Sun enters Aries (representing a new cycle of the zodiac), feels urgently still. It feels as if there’s a sense of necessity to finish something up before moving on or remembering something that you’ve neglected, with the caveat that in order to find/remember, you must be still. Winter into spring can feel a lot like that: there’s the clear sense that the light is getting greater every day but we’re still watching from inside the warm, winter hideaway. There's an urgency to burst into spring but the winter chill still calls you to the fireside. There’s still time to reach that inner space of sorrow? Frustration? Exaltation? Rejoice? And prepare to move on, sparked once again by the spring and the thrust of Sol into Aries..
That this New Moon is also an eclipse, which makes the urgency more pronounced (the stillness as well strangely enough), suggests that, one way or another, this moment can have an impact on personal growth and evolution if we pay attention to the signs around and/or within us. This of course is a very subjective experience. Only the individual knows (or thinks they know) what it is they need to grow and evolve, and only the individual can give (personal) meaning to events and mark them as omens. An oracular event to me may be just bird poop on the head to you. We are indeed in the purely subjective realm here.
This is one of the ways astrology is so beautiful though: it’s not at all about the meaning in the stars or of the stars but about the meaning to me (or you) that we attach to them in relation to our experience. This is why it’s so important to accentuate the positive as much as possible in order to create the most positive experience of 3-D reality. Too often one can fall into patterns of determinism and negativity, while at the same time decrying those modes of thought.
The Sun enters Aries on the 20th of March marking a new zodiacal year (oh so many New Year’s to celebrate!) in a chart with a lot of fire, balanced earth and water and no air. The water and earth elements are containing one another, keeping each other occupied, while the fire is raging but still without the air element. There’s a stillness with this, a necessary stillness perhaps that allows for time to pick up or put down what’s necessary. The image I have is the burning bush, the hearth fire, the sacred fire tended by the Vestal Virgins, or sacred groves in general….sacred spaces.
The combination of the eclipse and ingress and with Jupiter highlighted in Leo, suggests the need and utilization of sacred spaces for necessary contemplation, meditation, and catharsis. These charts seem to be highlighting the need for finding, cultivating, and caring for these places in order for the ability to self-realize to bloom. Where is your safe and sacred place? How often have you been to them? How have you been caring for them? ... all are legitimate considerations with the astrology of this moment.
This chart and dynamic reminded me of a dream I had back in 2009 and the gift of a sacred space that I found. It was one of those life-defining dreams, if you know the kind, that moved me and has stayed with me. Now it’s a dream, so don’t ask for any of this to make sense (although it makes great sense to me!). In the dream, I was among a group of Irish warriors in the Northeastern United States at some time before time was kept. We were scouting out this land when we crossed paths with an Algonquin party and a standoff ensued. With such a barrier in languages we attempted sign language to communicate intentions. The tension lead to an intense fight and when a calm was resorted, 8 were dead, 4 from each side.
A peace was understood among the survivors and each of the dead were buried with the help of all. After some time, the Irish became part of this tribe and regular time was given by the community to tend to the trees growing from the graves. However, the trees/grave were eternally burning trees in a forest of wildflowers. As this scene was unfolding in my dream, I heard a voice say that I was Oneida and that this was a place that I could come to find peace, and that I could come here any time I wanted. This is one of my sacred Spaces.
Obviously, this is a place I travel to through visioning or image-making. It’s not the only place like this, but it’s a personal favorite due to the introduction. I’ve also enjoyed other visionary states and places through the works of R.J. Stewart, particularly his underworld and faery realm journeys and of course there are 3-D reality places that I like to go to for ceremony, contemplation, healing, and rejuvenation. I don’t go to any of them enough.
What if we transformed our current landscape into sacred spaces? Are you thinking the idea of a sacred grove of eternally burning trees growing out of the graves of fallen warriors is an outrageous idea? Well, maybe it is, the burning tree part at least, but an Italian couple, Anna Citelli and Raul Bretzel, are imagining and working on the forest aspect of this. Their Capsula Mundi Project is a re-imaging of death and cemeteries through organic, bio-degradable burial pods that will turn one’s remains into nutrients to a tree growing above. Good-bye cold, gray stone markers and hello to sacred, living forest groves and walking among our ancestors.
What about the living? What if we made our living spaces more sacred? Or cared for them in a more sacred way? Again in Italy, designer Luciano Pia has created a 5 story, 63 unit apartment building in Turin, Italy that is nestled among trees, potted plants, and steel beams in the shape of tree trunks. The floral arrangement is intended to cut down on noise and air pollution from the city street, add and subtract light and warmth along with the seasons, and beautifying the city street and landscape. The 150 trees and plants in this complex are cooled and shaded in the hotter summer months when the trees are in full bloom and provide extra light and heat in the winter when the leaves shed.
How about making sacred the space that we use for food production? In Wyoming, one of the very first a 3 story vertical farm’s was constructed by a group called Vertical Harvest with the intention of providing Jackson residents with micro-greens and tomatoes to local residents, groceries and restaurants. This over 13,000 square foot structure is the equivalent of 5 acres of traditional farm land, which according to it’s website, will require 90% less water than traditional farming, no soil, and no chemical pesticides. If this is what it says it is (I am in no position to verify right now), a radical new way of producing needed food is on it’s way. Bonus points: they’re committed to hiring people with disabilities (a particular love of mine as a special education teacher) to offer them the chance to, “achieve happiness, success, and independence.” Beautiful. Sacred.
The chart that I am looking at for the Sun’s ingress into Aries features Leo rising, Jupiter in the first house and a packed 9th House. This is a powerful statement about the need for personal embodiment of the sacred through journeys to special places. The new zodiacal year begins with this thrust! The chart seems to urge us to seek personal self-realization through intentional time in any sacred place and a sacred place can be anyplace you deem sacred. If nothing else, this is a great opportunity to find a sit spot, an idea I learned about through the Wilderness Awareness School and the great tracker, wilderness teacher, and mentor John Young. The sit spot is a dedicated place in nature where you go and sit. That’s it, just sit. For a designated time and on a regular committed schedule in order to be alone and in nature and allow for a connection with the wild, the earth, and the cosmos we travel.
Aries (March 20-April 19)
This is an intense and potentially meaningful moment in the life of an Aries rising/Aries Sun or generally 1st House or Aries type soul. It could be easy to vibrate with such intensity that the other in your life feels burned up. Seek the path of higher truth and meaning versus the mundane achievements. Better yet: make the mundane miraculous and honor each and every soul in your life as the treasure chest of experiences they desire to be. When all else fails, keep a lid on it.
Taurus (April 19- May 20)
What is it that can be undone about yourself? What layer of that self, compiled of thoughts, ideas, and values that are not necessarily your own and don’t necessarily fit any more, can be cast off into the dustbin of personal history? This eclipse is urging purification in order to think, feel, and react to your highest ideal.
Gemini (May 20-June 21)
The most beautiful image forms in your chart tonight to convey a message of stillness and observation. There are questions, deep ones, of self-realization, creativity, and childhood that for a moment stand still as a portrait. You can paint it, recite it, admire it, or tear it down but whatever happens let it be of your own volition.
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
Eventually, home becomes something distant and foreign, whether desired or not or an intentional moving on or through the natural flow of time, we all (well, mostly) find ourselves in the position of governor of our own house. This can produce joy, terror, jubilance, or dread, and all are just fine and appropriate to feel and express. This eclipse appears to be asking you where you are at in this journey and how you feel about the state of affairs of the nation of you.
Leo (July 22-August 23)
The literal-what you see in your day to day affairs-and the local-as in the mundane day to day events that can occupy a life-are easy to get lost in and may create a yearning for something more. This appears to be the case for you with this eclipse. Your mind is indeed your friend so listen to it as you would a constant companion (which I hope is thoughtfully), and write down the several ideas for travel, learning, and journey’s of discovery that may crop up through this moment in astrology. Then take action. There’s more to these ideas than trivial fun.
Virgo (August 23-September 22)
Check in with yourself regarding ownership of a particular issue in your relationships with others with this eclipse. It’s entirely possible that the swings of emotion and projection of blame that may have come your way recently are not yours at all but just that: projection and transference of ownership. With Mercury retrograding back into your 2nd Solar House, it’s time to review matters of self-worth. With the Moon eclipsed in your Solar 8th House it’s time to isolate what emotional baggage is your’s and what is not…and then let go…
Libra (September 22-October 23)
There are moments in life that require one to stand-alone and make a decision based solely on their sense of autonomy. This does not mean that the ramifications of the act or decision is not thought through, on the contrary, all the possible angles are to be taken into consideration, weighed carefully, and advanced forward into the possible future. IN fact, taking iall this into consideration will facilitate strong, independent action. But a move may need to be made at moments like this one, and must be based on how you see yourself reacting on a day to day basis otherwise.
Scorpio (October 23-November 22)
All the energy in the world is at your fingertips….always, but right now it is swirling and churning in a creative vortex. This may be manifesting in such a way that you are acting quicker than you can plan things out and while that can produce powerfully lucid and spontaneous output, there is also the potential to get sloppy and forget when to get a reality check. Do not be the force of undoing in your ventures (unless you want to). Check in with a trusted ally, be discerning with your creative products, keep an eye on your moveable assets, and be mindful of your health….and enjoy…
Sagittarius (November 22-December 22)
Sexual inventoy time? It can be an empowering act to take a considered, conscious, stock of your desires, emotions, and highest truths in regards to your sexual drive and history. This is just not at all (or much/maturely) valued in our society, and yet is so important and fundamental to our experiences in these bodies and lives. One of the reasons I think it might be important to take this inventory now is the eclipsed moon (reactions) in your solar 5th House, is in a Grand Trine with Jupiter (expansion) and Mars (sex drive). A Grand Trine can act like a closed circuit, so these energies are mingling with each other quite intimately. Use the key words provided and ask: What are you saying to each other?
Capricorn (December 22-January 20)
How much or how often have you considered whether your reactions to daily stimuli: work, friends, family, nation, weather, news, nature…are yours or simply the way that you have reacted day after day, year after year until it has become a reflex. You’re not alone, I know you know, we all do this, it’s part of the human experience. It’s also part of the experience to evolve and as part of that evolution to investigate these automatic responses, verify their source if possible (in a general sort of way) and develop new coping skills if determined. This eclipse period is focused very closely in the realm of home…a place where for better or worse, many of these reactions are first conditioned and where de-conditioning may need to begin.
Aquarius (January 20-February 19)
It can be an exercise is consciousness expansion to remain open to any idea no matter how crazy it may seem. “Conspiracy theorists” get a bad rap (intentionally—yeah, I know that sounds like I think it’s a conspiracy) for ideas that are so “out there”, however, they are at the same time engaging in a process of creative, open imagination, the kind with which genius can emerge. There’s a cunning sort of symbolism in your chart that makes for crazy thinking that I would encourage you to go with. You may just start to make sense to you-self in a way that you never knew was possible. The only limits you should put on your mind is to not put any limits on your mind.
Pisces (February 19-March 20)
In Hermann Hesse’s Siddhartha, Siddhartha explained to his old friend Govinda, late in their lives, why he valued things over words: things are tangible and real and appear to share the same unity of experience; the stone he held in example was one with him. Words, teaching and thinking were murkier and seemed tied more to the suffering of the particular human experience and that particularity made it an act of separation and therefore a detour away from the singularity of existence. The astrology of the moment seems to be calling you into action, away from words and ideas, and into the tangible world of experience and possession. Let your senses lead the way as you surrender to your earthly home.
Astrologers have been talking about the Pluto/Uranus square, which has been in different stages of activation for the past couple of years, as if it would have powerful effects on the collective, but nothing too earth shattering has occurred…if anything, entrenched power seems more entrenched, and personal autonomy sold out to corporations and politicians/political parties more and more.
Will this eclipse, which involves the generational square, shake up the personal desire to decondition? Will people seek to break the trance of old ideas and cultural norms, ask what beliefs are their own or someone else's…perhaps the biggest question one can ask? Only time will tell. Look to the omens and let's shake it up baby.
The Autumnal Equinox, Monday September 22, 2014 in the evening here in San Francisco, is upon us. Collectively we sit on the precipice of equal day and night for the briefest of moments before continuing into, slowly but surely, the increasing darkness. Autumn is also called fall and I recall asking why as a child. The answers were appropriate enough and most likely correct, particularly being raised in the Northeastern part of the US: the falling leaves. There is also a correlation with the harvest in general and the gathering of resources and the wheat from the chaff.
Another correspondence could be The Fall, as in, the infamous fall from grace of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. From the book of Genesis we see a world of perpetual life, which can be understood as perpetual light and sun, warmth and pleasure, a paradise of bounty. When that rascally serpent tempted Eve with the fruit of knowledge it set off this journey into darkness, descent, and despair. This can be viewed as the propulsion of the evolutionary journey from Creator…and the sometimes-muddled odyssey of attempting to return.
So this time of year can bring a consideration of taking inventory, psychic or otherwise, of where one is on that trek from and to paradise. It’s part of a healthy harvest mentality to take stock. Libra is herself holding the scales, encouraging it would seem the need to seek balance. In the world at large we see a massive rally in New York and other locals in support of Mother Earth. At least that’s how I choose to look at the events. It could also have been understood as a rally against those the ralliers think are undermining what is necessary for a clean, vibrant and healthy world. I am not informed enough to make a conclusion either way as to the motives, however, “for” something rather than “against”, I think, is much more empowering.
This particular Ingress of the Sun into Libra reinforces darkness as an element as the moon wanes and the dark of the New Moon arrives on Tuesday. In my experience, the New Moon is a time period of a process (a trinity) perhaps best parsed as reflection (of a certain dynamic of the past), dissolution (of what needs to be dissolved based on the reflection), and then initiation of some action or intention based on the previous steps.
Perhaps one of the themes of this New Moon is a question: what are you for? Or more precisely: What are you living for? What is the most positive expression that you can give to what you feel or sense you are here to do and, better yet, how can you serve that purpose? Libra is an area of the zodiac that becomes necessarily social (an air sign) and where ones ideas and values (Venus ruler of Libra and Taurus) are put forth and interact with others. Friends and lovers to be sure but the 7th house, Libras natural house, also correlates to enemies, and it is important to meet with, understand, and when possible find common ground (or at least some agreement) with them as well.
Take me as an example. This very print that you’re reading is an intention based on refection during the past few days. What I recognized as needing to dissolve is my fear, apprehension, and sloth in projecting my image and message. I am frantically (not really) writing to get it out in time for the Ingress of Libra by the Sun and in time for the New Moon. Why? Well, among many other factors, Jupiter, as we speak, the essence of aspirations, hope, higher purpose and reward is crossing my mid-heaven, a highly sensitive point in a chart that has to do with one’s calling (vocation, career). My intention is to practice my deep desire to reach and connect with people in the most intimate and useful way through use of the tool astrology. The action I’m using to catalyze this is not just this writing, but also the act of sending it out. That this Jupiter/mid-heaven contact co-insides closely with the New Moon tomorrow is no small matter in my consideration.
So I offer a friendly and heartfelt challenge in the next 24 hours for you to consider what it is you are living for and how you can better serve that purpose. I don’t mean to presume that you don’t know this already, at least the what are you living for part, however, the serving part is the tricky one and the one worth giving a moments (at least) pause for rumination. Luckily this can be done at any moment really, one doesn’t need a new moon or any other astrological consideration to think and act. Change is indeed a constant. There can be a thrust with intentional, timely movement though, and timing actions with certain moments can prove to be a useful ally. Let me know how your doing with this and of course if you want to take a closer look, call or email for a session and we’ll get down to the details of the matter.
Lots of Leo!
The month of August is roaring right along with 4 stellar bodies in Leo: the powerful and illuminating Sun of course, the swift and tricky messenger Mercury, the planet of love and beauty Venus, and the stately, paternal, proud Jupiter are all simmering the summer months along here in the northern hemisphere. With all of this dramatic Leonean energy jolting through the psyche, it’s worth it to take stock of what it is and how to work it.
Each one of the 12 signs of the zodiac has a stellar body that it is ruled by or associated with and it just so happens that Leo is ruled by the Sun. When a stellar body is in the sign that it rules it is very strong and it’s influence can usually be felt or recognized pretty easily. With the sign Leo, one might notice such things as playfulness, strength, valor, royalty, drama, friendliness, and the need to be noticed. You may sense yourself fidgeting with these behaviors or noticing it in your loved ones and partners and if this is the case, then you can rest assured that you are in the right place and experiencing something that can be understood.
Here are some of the ways things could play out this month with the stellar bodies that are in Leo:
The Sun: The Sun will be in Leo until the 22nd of August. The Sun illuminates whatever area of the chart it is in; it is the energetic center of that moment. The Sun is the creative energy to self-actualization. There is a need with the Sun to be recognized for what one is essentially attempting to express. Where the Sun is in your chart depends on where and when you were born but here are a few examples: Sun in the 1st House there will be radiance of body and self image, Sun in the 2nd House highlights values and possessions, thinking and communicating will be infused with the Sun in the third house and home, family, ancestors and mothers or fathers will be noticed if the Sun is in the 4th House.
Mercury: Mercury will be in Leo until August 15th. Mercury is the planet closest to the Sun and has a very fast orbit, hence one of the reasons that Mercury is associated with speed, thinking and communication. With Mercury in Leo you may find yourself or others talking much more about, well, themselves…Leo has a fascination with being noticed and recognized for their specialties and deservedly so! We all have things to be proud of, things that we are good at, and as a point of integrity we need to take stock and responsibility for them. Be aware of the bravado that may come your way this month though from others, and be cautious of your own sense of pride. This is the foot-in-mouth scenario to avoid! Those of you with Gemini and Virgo Suns, Moons or rising will particular feel this dynamic
Venus: Venus is the most recent adventurer into Leo arriving in the playful lion’s lair just after midnight here on the west coast and she will remain here until about the 6th of September. Venus in Leo has no traditional strength or debilitation; it is in a sense neutral here. Perhaps that’s because everyone is so busy seeking, displaying, and feeling love/d they’re not noticing anything else? Some places this may be true but there’s certainly many that aren’t experiencing great love (just look at a couple of headlines…). Regardless, those of us able to express love will find it just a bit easier this month, in fact, a caution is in order around overbearing displays that can be understood as less than genuine. One of the lessons or needs of Venus to finding balance and in Leo that would be in the area of self-expression.
Jupiter: This is a more lengthy transit. Jupiter spends about a year in each sign and is felt very strongly when it first enters the sign as you may have noticed in the middle of July. Jupiter, associated with the signs Sagittarius and Pisces has to do with one’s highest aspirations, what one truly believes, and how one has faith. Put it all together and this will be a year of manifesting one’s highest truth; pretty powerful stuff indeed. Leo is a fire sign as is Sagittarius so he can feel pretty good in Leo but it may be a bit overwhelming too. It would be wise to pace yourself in achieving ambitions and easing pressure as enough exists in the current state. Jupiter in Leo requires lots of personal inventory taking so take out the pen and paper and make your lists of assets and liabilities; it will pay in dividends throughout the year.
There’s more to come as well! Venus, the planet of love and beauty joins the Leo party August 12th, so look for relationship matters to boil up in self-determined ways in the near future. Be well and call an astrologer!
Mercury Into Virgo
Mercury, the planet that represents the inner function of communication, thinking, planning, and general data collecting (think the 5 senses—sight, hearing, seeing, smelling, tasting) will change signs on August 15th at 9:44 AM PDT, from Leo to Vigo. Whenever a stellar body changes signs there is a shift; that shift can be subtle or sudden, it all depends on the individual and their circumstances in life. In general, this shift of Mercury into Virgo should offer very positive potential, particularly because this is one of the signs that Mercury rules (the other being Gemini) and where Mercury has the ability to exert a more focused refined affect. Again, much depends on the individual, their modus operandi, and the events surrounding their current circumstances…and of course their free choice…there is (almost) always a choice.
Mercury in Virgo offers the collective the opportunity to communicate with one another in clear, logical, thoughtful, and unselfish ways. In other words this is the time to hammer things out and have those sticky, difficult conversations with loved ones or business partners that you fear will turn emotional. Tune into the tone of Mercury in Virgo from August 15th through September 2nd and get these necessary conversations completed. The mythology of the Virgo constellation relates to the harvest goddesses and fertility. Virgo enables one (all) the ability to discern truths and feed truth, hence, grow and evolve.
As it seems with most things in existence there is a caution. Virgo can tend towards over-analysis, worry, and inertia due to a fixation on picayune details. This can happen due to that very same precision intellect that sees and understands the finest details. In matters of the heart (or not, matters of practical, daily life also) getting bogged down in the details of an affair can lead to despair. If an when you sense this happening, it might be worth it to remember the polarity point of Virgo, Pisces, and it’s lesson to dissolve differences.
Mercury in Virgo is available to everyone, there are no restrictions, however, the potential is greater for some, and accessed uniquely by all dependent on the individual’s chart. Those with Virgo Sun, Rising, or Moon for instance certainly have much potential with this transit as well as one with any planets in Virgo. The way in which it can be utilized is dependent on where Virgo is in your chart, which depends on your birth time, date, and place.
Sun Enters Leo
[cue The Muppet Show Theme Song] “It’s time to play the music, it’s time to light the lights, it’s time to meet the…” Sun in Leo!
There’s little that’s subtle about the Sun in Leo, it’s natural sign, and it will be even more so this time around as the ever jubilant and equally gregarious Jupiter will stroll along with the Sun as it enters its domain.
The Sun will enter Leo July 22, 2014 at 2:42 PM PDT and will immediately start to fire up the astrology. The Sun and Leo both have a strong spirit of self-expression and this will be a time that has great possibilities for creative, dramatic displays and expressions. It will be time that you may well be drawn to spend time either with children or as a child, telling stories, playing games, play acting, singing, dancing, anf making a general show of whatever it is your doing.
This will also be a period of time where the libido heats up. All the creative self-expression, playfulness, gregariousness, and charm eventually can lead to flirtation and happy affairs. Now, happy affairs are great, generally speaking, however, with this energy it can be easy to forget others. Taking careful stock of your responsibilities and the consequences of your actions, not only on you but all the others that may be affected, will serve you (and everyone else) well.
Having said that…the sexual energy and light love affairs that this energy brings is a great gift and benefit of life that is important to honor and experience. There will be a further thrust of this energy, with a more serious tone, as Mars enters Scorpio on the 26th. Mars is also very strong in Scorpio and with both the Sun and Mars in their natural signs; the sexual energy may be intense.
Where and how these dynamics play out in your personal life and chart depends on personal factors such as your birth date, time, and place. For instance, Leo is the ruler of my 10th House, the house of career (and I work with Sun sign astrology!), so as the Sun enters Leo it will be crossing my 10th House. This suggests, for me personally and anyone with a similar chart, that there will be an illumination (Sun) on my career (10th House)…I await my own action…
In traditional Celtic lore each and every individual has 3 aspects: the human, animal, and the faery; balance, honor, and awareness of the three is considered the healthy way to approach and sustain strength in body, mind, and spirit. It seems to me that there is an imbalance of attention paid to the human aspect of the individual, which may account, in part, for the imbalance seen in our relationship with nature. There is little doubt that of the three the faery aspect is least respected or accepted in this world today and requires it’s own immense amount of experience and healing.
The third aspect of our being, the animal, while it can accessed at any time and anyplace, has a special affinity and ability to be recognized when the Moon is in Sagittarius as it is today. Sagittarius is of course the centaur Chiron, himself half man half horse, and there is something up front and obvious about the animal nature of this sign.
With the Moon here in Sagittarius, and to honor the animal aspect of your being, it may be useful to meditate and connect with your animal spirit today. If you care to share your connections here I would be happy and excited to know what you find! I personally have had a strong connection to the boar, which came to me in dreams some years ago; more recently, and for very personal reasons, the buffalo and I have been close …
The animal/human nature of Sagittarius can make emotions quite rambunctious so take the time before reacting today. There may be urges to wander in the woods or roam around the streets hunting for prey (make it civilized) or mates (make it truly civilized!) that you can find a way to honor as well.

The Moon applies a conjunction to Saturn for the rest of the afternoon suggesting a period of time, this afternoon, to get down to some nitty gritty business; this includes any issues related to career, vocation, family, emotions, parenthood, or administration of resources. The Moon is the emotional eye through which each individual understands daily life and Saturn has a restrictive, crystallizing nature.
Focus, balance, and keep a keen eye on the target and today can be a day of great accomplishments!
As the Moon and Saturn draw closer with the passing day, it is perhaps worth considering the MotherFather archetypes. This happens every 28 days or so, when the Moon approaches, meets, and moves on once again from Saturn, and the question that may be asked is: How am I taking responsibility for my emotional state? How am I taking care of my own nurturing? What kind of parent am I?
There are long standing correlations with these stellar bodies and the roles of Mother and Father. Some astrologers associate Saturn with the father and Moon with Mother; others switch them around. Which one is right? I hate choosing and absolutes so I leave ti flexible and "feel" out the situation. In my own life, Saturn has a strong correlation to my mother, however, it also depends on how and what we are talking about. Best to remain open.
The Houses they are associated with, the 4th and 10th, also correlate in a nativity (the astrology chart for when someone is born) to the parents, as well as the planets associated with the signs on those house cusps. Look at your chart's 4th and 10th house's and then find the planets that rule those signs and there's a good chance of seeing your parents influence.
