Full Moon!! Solar Flares!!

There's a whole lot of action up there, out there, in here...basically all around and throughout right now. Just in time for the beautiful Full moon tonight on the Pisces/Virgo axis came two massive Solar Flares. One was shot out on Monday and the other on Tuesday. Solar flares are emissions from the sun, huge explosions that send solar radiation through the solar system. These shots happen on a periodic basis and the cause of the beautiful light show known as the aurora borealis. Every so often, about every 10 years, the episodes become extreme and the emissions from the sun are more and more. This period is known as a solar maximum. Through the rest of this and into next year we will be in a solar maximum period and these have been noticed as extreme times for civilization. The 1920-1930's period is a good one to look at as an example. There was a solar maximum period in the middle to late 1920's and a massive drop in 1929 coinciding nicely with the Roaring 20's which ended with the stock market crash and then the Great Depression.

That's obviously an extreme example but effective in describing the power that these bombardments of solar energy can carry. Since the Sun represents our vitality and creative expression there can be a heightened urge towards that type of fulfillment at this time. More importantly perhaps, is that there are forces to be harnessed right now through these solar emissions. That the Sun is in Pisces, an important transitional archetype, the urge towards dissolution of old, worn out patterns that hinder creative self expression may grow. Pisces is a powerful, deeply emotional, and intuitive energy that has the power to transform consciousness in a very collective sense. It being the 12th and "last" house in the zodiac (can there ever be a last in a circle?) it carry's the understanding, or potential understanding, of the union of opposites. I like to think of it as the mitakuye oyasin lesson in life.  Mitakuye oyasin is the Lakota word for all my relations. It is heard quite often at Lakota ceremonies such as Sundance or Inipi (sweatlodge) and is used more to mean we are all related and I think there is an important lesson through Pisces to understand and integrate that realization.

So while our vital selves may be experiencing strong doses of that Piscean type sentiment, however one may be ready or not to accept it, the emotional body, represented by the moon, full tonight in Virgo, will be busy, busy, busy sifting through, sorting through all of those potential relations to see how best to serve. Virgo is an earth sign so there is good solid grounding, well needed considering the mystical, transcendent nature of Pisces, and Virgo is also representative of the transition from subjective, personal experience to the broader communal experience. Through Virgo what we have to offer as service to others is sought after and with the moon here there is an emotional tint. This dynamic, this full moon, may be calling us to understand ourselves in relation to how we can serve each other's emotional needs best. How can we serve each other in ways that do not rile or chafe the emotional state but rather create a graceful presence? A tall order indeed but perhaps well worth it? Hell, just walk out the door and you can see the need for it in 10 minutes.

It's hard in this world that we live in today to embody the boundarliness nature of Pisces and even harder to combine it with the notion of service towards others and it's no wonder the dark sides of both Pisces and Virgo, alcoholism, drug addiction, crisis, and delusion abound. I face the challenge everyday  to live according to my true and resonant code in the face of hordes of souls lost in the world of commerce, politics, and belief systems outside of natural law. I forget. It's easy....Ultimately it's no excuse though and one way or another I will learn the lesson. It has been proven to me over and over many times the hard way. This Full Moon and the accompanying solar flares serve as stark reminder of our connection to each other and our Mother Earth. Some of the other side effects of solar maximums can be grave and severe for us here: power grid failures, satellite knock-outs, earthquakes. We had 2 earthquakes here in the Bay Area Monday morning before the events occurred. Better to bathe in the shower of Piscean unity reflected through grounded emotion tonight than be forced to learn through the shock and awe of shattered darkness.
