New Moon Gemini

A powerful new moon is upon us (as I write it is exact) the energy of which focuses on the mental, social, intellectual functions with a big impact of relationships. This new moon is highlighted by an annular solar eclipse happening at 0 degrees Gemini, and with Venus retrograde in Gemini.

Gemini is the first in the trinity of air signs along with Libra and Aquarius and hence the identification with social interactions. Gemini is ruled by Mercury and has a natural curiosity. Gemini is all about taking in information, tracking down new ideas, talking, talking, talking...about anything and everything, and tracking new routes. Gemini is a bit linear, logical, and methodical even if they (the twins) are rambunctious, and therefore there is a tendency for finding concrete answers vs. feeling out the truth.

Yet  Venus is there and retrograde. Curious. Venus is associated with Taurus, a fixed earth sign, and Libra, a cardinal air sign, and vibrates feelings! Venus influences how a soul feels about art, thenselves, what is important to their survival, and relationships; so an inner and outer relational principle. And it's retrograde meaning it is offering a counterpoint, travelling inward, working the other way.

Put these two paragraphs together and there is a powerful energetic thrust to put our mental powers to work thinking about relationships and values within relationships. Sounds good in general but remember that new moon energy is dynamic. It can go anywhere and is kind of  a loose cannon. There is a mystery with the energy. Also, the answer is not always where you're standing but where you're going. Our world seems to be bound together through polarity: night/day, yin/yang, up/down, and the language of astrology is no different. The polarity point for all of this energy is Sagittarius and it is here that higher truths are developed. Through the energy of the centaur we combine all the Gemininian information and form an ultimate truth, and this is done through the intuitive function rather than the linear.

There is definetly powerful energy vibrating through our world right now. In the next month the very same principal/le Venus will be making a rare passage by the Sun (June 5th) and the first exact Pluto/Uranus square, a powerfully transormative force sure to impact both the individual and the collective, occurs June 25th. This new moon in Gemini is a gateway to some powerful forces of transformation and a good time to start thinking about intuituiting more in the future.

Sunday’s partial solar eclipse will bring a burning ring of fire to the sky

There will be a relatively rare solar eclipse this weekend, as the moon slides between Earth and the sun, casting its long shadow across wide swaths of the globe.

Sunday’s event will be an annular partial solar eclipse, meaning that the moon will be too far away from the Earth to totally block out the suns light when it aligns itself briefly.

The last time there was an annular solar eclipse was in 1994.

On May 20, the moon will be in apogee – at its farthest distance from Earth – when it glides before the sun, so it will not obscure the whole orb, leaving a ring of fiery light around the perimeter of the moon. (cue Johnny Cash)

But for east coast astronomers, it will be a total eclipse of the heart, as the solar show doesn’t begin until 5:24 pm Pacific time, meaning the sun will have already set for the eastern half of the country.

The center of the moon’s shadow will pass over northern California, central Nevada, Utah, New Mexico and the north-west corner of Texas.

Skywatchers in Japan and China will also be able to catch a glimpse of the fiery ring in the wee hours of Monday morning.

NASA posted this animated map of the path that the moon’s antumbral shadow will travel over the Earth:

The national park service has provided a map of 33 US parks will see the full effect of the moon’s rock block and posted safety precautions to take while viewing the eclipse.

The old saw that you should never look directly into the sun remains true. Never look at the sun through binoculars or a telescope, either, unless you have applied solar filters (sunglasses don’t count).

Other types of eclipses include the total eclipse, which completely obscures the sun, the partial eclipse, and the hybrid eclipse, which occurs when the moon’s shadow lifts off the surface of the Earth at some point.

The hybrid eclipse provides some stargazers with a total eclipse and others with an annular ring of fire view, depending on where they’re standing.

Venus Retrograde

Venus goes retrograde tomorrow in Gemini making apparent backwards movement towards the Sun, in fact, passing in front of the sun in early June. It seems as if there is a message here about lost or forgotten speech pertaining to love and beauty. Reformulation of these truths for us is important right now. Maybe that means simply stating what love is for you the same way or maybe it requires an entire redefinition. Regardless, some consideration of the communication of love, values, and balance in relationship is up for inward attunement for the next little while.

The Superest full moon? Check Earth Sky http://earthsky.org/tonight to find out.

For sure the moon is full in Scorpio. Of course Very little, if anything, happens in life in a vacuum or as a single event. To say that the Full Moon is in Scorpio is to
imply that the Sun is in Taurus because a full moon is an opposition of the sun
and moon.

Picture
Oppositions represent polarized forces  and in this case the forces are  related to actualizing (Sun) intentions that are
practical, values based,  and grounded in one's own resources (Taurus) vs. an  emotional lens (Moon)
that is intensely fixated on the psychology of merging
resources and values  towards the transformation of ego (Scorpio).

So  the energetic,  radiant propulsion is to gather, retain, or manage survival  resources. The  emotional tension stems from this due to the fact of needing  others to  survive…as much as we find and figure out in developmental stages what  we  need to survive we will still and always have to learn the give and take of  union with another.
